Raymond Byrd Shrader

Raymond Byrd Shrader, 52, of Mechanicsville, Va, passed away May 20, 2023. He was 8 days shy of his 53rd birthday. Raymond is survived by his sons, Patrick and Zach, brothers Eddie and DG, nieces and nephews and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken & Celie Hicks and father, Danny Shrader. Raymond was an exceptional high school baseball player and a 1989 Lee Davis graduate. He continued to play softball until 2002. Raymond worked for Pete Rose Landscaping for 23 years before joining Bruce Howard Contracting. He never met a stranger and had a joke for everyone. Raymond gave his life to the Lord on December 27, 2019 and contracted COVID April 1, 2020 which put him on the front page of the Mechanicsville Local twice! He battled the awful side effects until the very end. Be kind. The funniest people are often the saddest. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
