Howard "Buddy" Cleveland Jones III

He was preceded in death by his parents, H.C. “Bud” Jones, Jr. and Addie Barnum Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Barrett Jones; son, Hunter Jones (Beth); daughter, Dana Randolph (Eric); beloved grandchildren, Sophie and Gretchen Jones, and Ethan and Claire Randolph; and his faithful pups, Brody and Layla.

Buddy grew up in Richmond. He was a member of the graduating class of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1965. He attended the University of Richmond for two years, where he played on the Spiders basketball team. After deciding to go into the field of Education, he transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in School Administration. Buddy was employed by Chesterfield County Public Schools and served as a teacher, school administrator, and he finally retired in 2003 after working as Director of Human Resources for CCPS.

Buddy loved his family, with all of his heart. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and trips to the beach, as well as working in the yard. Buddy especially enjoyed sitting on the deck or attending a concert to listen to the good old music from the 60’s and 70’s. He always had a smile on his face and loved everyone.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Salisbury Country Club. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024 at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
