Dear Bev, 
My heart goes out to you in your time of great loss. You and your boys have lost a cornerstone of your family.

I remember when I first met Craig, in Rochester, in upstate New York, a few short weeks after arriving in the US from South Africa and feeling a bit lost, homesick and overwhelmed. You were in South Africa, finishing up your degree. Craig introduced me to the Sun office there and made sure I found my feet. He was a patient teacher and a kind friend. He missed you very much and was so excited when you came back from South Africa and he could introduce us.

The two of you always made Adriaan and me welcome in your home and we loved the road trips from Rochester to Richmond when we could catch up as if we didn't live hundreds of miles apart.

My heart is breaking for you Bev, Liam and Malcolm.  I pray that you are surrounded by loved ones and friends to comfort you in your grief.  I pray God’s comfort and peace for you now and in the days to come.  You are so loved.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Craig's passing. His contributions to the world of technology here at CarMax particularly in the realm of cybersecurity, not only made our digital lives safer but also inspired those around him to strive for doing the right thing. 
I will remember him fondly for his unwavering commitment to his work, his cheerful demeanor, and his willingness to help others. I hope you find comfort in the fact that he made a difference to those around him, and I will always be grateful for his kindness and strength.  He will be missed.

I went to school with Craig too, but only really got to know him when we both went to the same university where we became good friends. Craig always left an impression on those who met him. He was unselfish and gave of his time and energy to those who asked. He was very focused and determined and gave 110% to anything he put his mind to do.

Bev, Liam and Malcolm - I'm so very sorry for your loss and pray that you will be surrounded by family and friends to support you through this very difficult time.

Our hearts go out to Bev, Liam and Malcolm. Words fail. Craig will live on in our hearts in the many shared memories. He will be greatly missed.

In 2022 I got to take in an unofficial Merseyside derby held in the U.S. with Craig, Liam and Malcolm. Arsenal won but it's a memory I'll keep of the time together.

Craig was almost always upbeat,  passionate and inquisitive. I met Craig through our shared time at the Federal Reserve and was fortunate enough to continue a friendship that included many days playing in adult soccer leagues and scrimmages, attending professional games and sharing a drink. 

He always had experience to share and was one of the best storytellers I've ever met. Conversations with him were never dull. Loved his sharp sense of humor and his straightforward approach. Beverly, Liam and Malcolm, I'm so sorry for your loss. Craig was a very good man and we will all miss him. I was proud to call him my friend.

I had the privilege of working with Craig when I first joined CarMax.  He was always willing to help whenever I had questions (which was often).  He had a ton of experience and wisdom which he willingly shared, teaching others what he knew.   In the past few years our paths didn’t cross much, I recently talked to him and I’m so glad I did.  He was a masterful technologist and cared about what he did, but under that technical expertise he had a heart that cared about people and his team.  I loved working with Craig and will miss him dearly.

I really enjoyed the times that I interacted with Craig working at CarMax. He was always funny and approachable, and generous with his time and knowledge.

Craig was loved by so many of us who knew him at school (Port Shepstone) and at the University of Pietermaritzburg.  He was a true best friend throughout all those years and his passing is immensely sad.  He was always someone you could trust, would help you when he could and was one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of called a friend.
When he visited South Africa he took time out of his holiday to visit my mother, which she loved.  This act of kindness that special people do.

I knew Craig during my time at Port Shepstone High School. Craig was a good friend and showed care and compassion to many.

He was highly intelligent and on more than one occasion came to my home in Trafalgar to help prepare for exams. He was a gentleman and  gave of himself unselfishly.

He will be missed. Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

I knew Craig during our Port Shepstone High School years (1981-1985) In our final-year-school-magazine the quote below his portrait describes Craig so aptly: “He hath a wisdom that doth guide his valour”. The fellow-student and gentleman will always be remembered as a young man of boldness, discretion and understanding. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I went to school with Craig in Port Shepstone, South Africa, from Grade 1 all the way through to Final year. 
Craig had a cheeky wicked sense of humor and above all, was always an absolute Gentleman.  Condolences to his Family.  May he Rest in Peace 🙏

Beverley, Liam and Malcom, I am really sorry for your loss. Craig was not only an invaluable part of my team at Carmax but a fantastic human! We will forever feel the loss. May his soul rest in peace.

I did want to share a funny memory.  In one of my calls with Craig, he had indicated how he was being approached by other companies. I told him if I can I will never let him go as he is so special to all of us. A great technologist, fantastic mentor and just a genuine soul!  I ended up quoting Liam Neeson from the movie Taken.... Craig immediately responded by saying that him and his wife loved Liam Neeson and even named their son Liam. We had a good laugh. Will miss you Craig!
