George M. Polansky, 84, of Lake Monticello passed away on August 24, 2024, in Charlottesville, VA. Born on February 26, 1940, in Kaska, Pennsylvania, George was a respected Air Force veteran, Civil Engineer and avid golfer. After retiring, George pursued a successful career as a wood craftsman, creating designs that were sold locally, including at the prestigious gift shop at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
A positive individual known for a ready smile, George was a friend to all. George is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Jeanine (Heinz) Polansky; daughter, Julia (Brendan) Walsh and family; former daughter-in-law, Menda (Chris) Allen and family; brother-in-law, Ron (Sharon) Heinz and family; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends/neighbors from various social activities at the Lake and in the community. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Bill Mix and his wife, Lucy, for their exceptional care during George's illness.
George was preceded in death by a dear son, Gregory George; brothers, Frank and Robert; and brother-in-laws, Ken (Ginger) Heinz and Loren (Donna) Heinz.
A celebration of George's life will be scheduled at a later date.
