Faye Ogden Purvis was born at home in Lovingston, VA on October 7, 1934, to Clifford and Nolie Ogden. Momma was the youngest of six children and spent her early years growing up in Lovingston surrounded by her 4 older sisters Mildred Johnson, Anna Harris, Jean Ayers, Beth Ogden and her brother Leo Ogden.
Momma loved sports and was the basketball captain of her high school team. She also played softball for the church league. Croquet was a past time she also enjoyed and was very competitive.
She met and married her high school sweetheart, Alvin B."Skippy" Purvis. They lived a short time in Alexandria, VA before moving back to Nelson County. They were married for 68 years and are now rejoined in heaven.
Momma was dedicated to her career at CVEC. She began her employment at CVEC when she was 19 and remained there until she retired. She was a lifetime member of Shipman Baptist Church where she was active in the missionary society, the church choir and was always cooking a meal to deliver to someone in need.
Music and eating seemed to be what the Purvis family did well. There was always singing and always a gathering for Momma's cooking.
She is survived by a son Philip Purvis and wife Rinnie, her daughter Rhonda Avellone, and preceded in death by her son, David Purvis and husband Skippy.
She has 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who filled up her time with lots of activities.
