Jack E. Leary, 74, of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucian George Leary; mother, Beatrix Estelle Dunford; brothers, Pat Leary and Phil Leary; sister, Colleen Leary; and half-sister, Linda Landell. Survivors include his son, Chris Leary; daughter, Angela Leary Spain; grandchildren, Kendra Spain, Kevin Spain, Kierra Spain, and Brandon Spain; three great-grandchildren whom he was never able to meet; sister, Jill Murphy; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Jack was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Hopewell, Petersburg, and Chesterfield County. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Jack started his career repairing televisions at Bishops. He then worked at Circuit City until their bankruptcy. Jack went on to earn his associates degree at Key Business College. Upon his graduation, he was offered a teaching position there that he declined because he wanted a physically active job. He worked as a factory lineman for Brenco Manufacturing and Production. Jack loved his Jack Russell Terrier that would ride on his Harley motorcycle with him. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors feeling the sunshine on his face.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
